Statement Sabine's Smiling Horses

horseback riding vacation Costa Rica

Horses were one of the main reasons why I decided to live in Costa Rica since 1999.

My daughter Tara was born in Monteverde and is Costa Rican.

Monteverde offers an ideal climate for horses. It is fresh and green all year round. For horseback riding, the local Campesino trails are the best, going through farmland & cloud forest, besides offering stunning views of the gulf of Nicoya or Volcano Arenal on the other side of the Continental divide.

I love my horses and have a relationship with them, following the ideas of Mark Rashid and GaWaNi Pony Boy (a native American Indian from his book: Horse follow closely). My horses are healthy and well taken care of. They are part of my family.

I like to communicate my knowledge and love of horses to the people who ride with us. That’s why  the rider learns about horses, riding, so you feel not only safe on the horse, but you feel he is your friend. When you treat a horse well he becomes your friend and he likes to ride with you. That’s why I call my stable

Sabine’s Smiling horses

I am attending all riding guests on arrival for a horseback riding briefing. I speak fluent English, French, Spanish and German. Local guides will take you around the countryside. On and off during the year we have bilingual volunteers guiding as well.  I also like take beginners and help them loose their fears.

I adapt the tours in the country site and chose the horses according to their character and the level of experience of the rider.

I have children saddles, helmets and Ponies for half grown ups, very safe and comfortable for them. Smallest children ride with the guide or the parents, if they wish. Sabine's Smiling Horses is an established company taking on responsibilities.

I maintain the riding material very well.

Specialties are also  multi day horseback riding vacation and full moon rides

I am very proud of all the positive comments riders wrote in my guest books or Volunteer that stayed with me. I would be more than happy to show them to you.

The basic rate is $ 15 US per hour, an average riding tour of 2.5 hours cost $ 35 US and 3 hours cost $ 40 US.

You can learn from her not only about horseback riding and horses health care, but also about Costa Rica's horseback festivals or her  horse farm all around horses that she would share with all of you.
